A eicr electrical test (also known as an EICR) is an inspection and testing of the condition of the electric wiring in your property. If your eicr electrical test shows a grade C1 or C2, it’s a clear indication that the system is in danger and you need to take immediate action. The electrician will recommend some temporary measures to make the system safe and should provide you with a time frame within which you must complete any necessary remedial work.

A c3 is less serious, but it still indicates that further investigation is required to identify the issue. You must contact the electrician to organise this within 28 days, or any shorter period if specified in the report. Once the remedial work has been completed, you’ll need to supply your electrician with written confirmation that it was carried out.
